When consistent particle size matters, an industrial sifter is in order. Just like smaller units designed for home use, industrial sifters, or sieves, are excellent for outputting uniform powders by removing or breaking down clumps, and thoroughly mixing and aerating the product. This type of sifting is critical to industries such as commercial baking and pharmaceutical production.

Sifting through progressive sieves is also a method for removing fine particles while retaining larger particles, or sorting incrementally smaller particles. Separating irregularly sized, often natural, particles helps appropriate pieces to be routed to where they will best be used. This approach is common in processing agricultural products such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, and more, as well as when working with minerals and natural rock or stone.

Types of Industrial Sifters

Industrial sifters use two primary types of motion:

  • Rotation
  • Vibration

Many sifters will use both methods to accomplish their task. Sifters are also available in a linear format or the more compact round format, and may have one level of sifting for creating a homogenous product, or multiple levels for sorting particles of varying size.
